Share Your Story. 〰️

Share your voice with The Fed Up Features— a monthly guest story series written or spoken by subscribers.

Step 1. Choose a prompt

Below are five prompts to choose from. Choose one, and let’s say the true thing out loud, together, even if it feels scary to do so:

1. It’s Okay to Not Be Okay (Mental Health & Wellbeing)

2. An Inner Whisper I Could No Longer Ignore (Self-Trust & Inner Voice)

3. The Sign I Almost Missed (Making Meaning & Spirituality)

4. I Wasn’t the Only One (Connection & Community)

5. When I Said the True Thing Out Loud (Reclaiming Your Voice)

Have something else in mind? These prompts are starting points, not requirements. If you have a story that lives in The Fed Up space, but it doesn’t fit neatly into a prompt above, pitch it. I am happy to discuss your idea before you submit!

Step 2. Choose your format

You can submit your story in writing, as audio, or on video as long as it’s your words and your voice.

Requirements for Submissions:

Written

  • Length: 800–1,800 words

  • Submit as a google doc or word document attached or shared to your email

  • Format with subheads to break up the piece, and include at least one photo — a headline image up top, plus any others that feel right throughout. Include captions for each photo submitted.

Spoken (Video or Audio)

  • Length: roughly 3–5 minutes

  • Read your essay aloud, or tell your story freeform — both are welcome

  • Phone is completely fine — for video, keep the camera still and focused; for audio, find somewhere quiet with minimal background noise

  • Include at least one photo with a caption that will be used as the headline image

  • Attach as a shared link or file to your email submission

  • By submitting, you’re agreeing to having your voice (and likeness, if video) shared publicly as part of The Fed Up

All formats

  • It must be a true story

  • The story must be written and/or told by you

  • Tell us which prompt you’re responding to at the top of your submission (or share your pitch, if going the open route)

  • Include a bio with a photo of you, as well as relevant links already hyperlinked

  • Written without AI — see note below

Step 3. Submit your story

Please review submission guidelines before submitting your story to The Fed Up.

  • Deadline: I accept submissions on a rolling basis, but I am looking for submissions ASAP to fill August/ September content slots

  • Where to send it: jordan@thefedupcommunity.com

  • Subject line: “FUF Submission, (Your Name)”

  • One requirement: You’ll need to be a subscriber (free or paid) to The Fed Up to submit a guest story. When submitting, please share the email you used to subscribe to verify.

Subscribe here if you’re not already on the list.

  • What you get: If selected, your story will be shared with The Fed Up’s full list and community, a full bio + links with the piece, and promotion across our channels when it publishes. Finally, you will be gifted a 3-month paid subscription to The Fed Up.

A note on AI:

I ask that all stories be created and shared without AI. If AI is used in any capacity to write, create, or share your story, you must include a disclaimer at the top of your submission email. This is a space about your voice, and that only works if the words on the page are actually yours.

Waiting to hear back?

I will review every submission I receive, and I will aim to get back to each contributor within one month of their submission date.
